Changes

The References list is gone from filed PDFs.

Long Outlook threads printed one opaque message id per reply above the body — fifteen lines on a fifteen-message thread. Message-ID and In-Reply-To stay, which is enough to chain filed records; the full ancestry added nothing a reader could use.

The panel returns to the drop pad when the last email is removed.

Removing the last queued row left the full-size panel on screen with nothing in it, and the next drop couldn't take keyboard focus. Escape-then-drag with emails still queued reopens at full size instead of crushing the list into the small pad. Errors on the pad stay until dismissed.

Smaller fixes.

Clear All keeps the chosen matter. The Save button no longer embeds the matter name (the destination bar names it). ⌘W closes Settings and Filing History. Closing an available update's dialog keeps it available. A file that can't be read from the Outlook Drop Inbox is moved aside instead of re-importing on every launch.

Reliability

An email's own styling can no longer hide the record's header.

The From/To/Date/Subject block is now isolated from the message's stylesheet, so an email styled to hide tables or shrink text can't erase who sent it and when. A render that timed out could also, in rare cases, print the previous email into the next record; every render is now verified before printing.

Undo after a failed batch no longer trashes the previous batch.

When a batch stopped partway, "Undo Last Save" still pointed at the batch before it. Undo now targets only what just landed, is unavailable while a batch is writing, and also forgets the matter route that filing taught.

Duplicate checks finish before ⌘Return files anything.

On a large matter folder the already-filed check could still be running when you pressed ⌘Return, and the duplicate filed silently. Save now waits, showing "Checking for duplicates…".

Filing errors say what went wrong, and other errors survive a save.

A full disk, a moved matter folder or a permissions problem is named instead of "try again". A warning raised during a save — such as Outlook delivering only part of a drag — is no longer overwritten by the save's own progress.

Subjects Outlook splits mid-character decode correctly, and more of the message is kept.

Encoded subjects folded across two words rendered as raw =?utf-8?B?…?= text. Calendar invitations, RTF and unnamed attachments are now kept as named files with a note rather than dropped; an unparseable date prints as written; an email with a Received date but no usable sent date files under the date it sorts by.

Open at Login can be approved.

When macOS asked for approval, the toggle snapped off and removed the very item you were sent to approve. A pending approval now reads as on, with a note about where to allow it.

Learned routes survive a folder rename, and a stuck suggestion gives up on time.

Renaming a matter folder split its filing history into competing candidates that cancelled each other out. The "Finding matter…" spinner could also wait forever on a wedged on-device model; it now times out.

The app and disk image are signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple. The other GitHub assets are for automatic updates; most people only need the DMG.

New installation

Open the DMG, drag Maildrop to Applications, then launch it from Applications. macOS will verify the notarized app on first open.

Existing installation

Use Check for Updates in Maildrop, or install the DMG directly. Routine updates appear in daily cohorts during the seven-day rollout.
